Getting to Poundbury

RAIL

There are two rail stations serving Dorchester. Dorchester South has frequent train services on the London (Waterloo) –Weymouth main line. The other station, Dorchester West, is on the Bristol (Temple Meads) and Weymouth line.

Both stations are a 20 minute relatively level walk to Poundbury. There are regular buses outside Dorchester South to Poundbury.

BUS

First Bus operates the Number 10 route that runs from Poundbury to Dorchester and Weymouth up to every 20 minutes. Damory also operates the Number 6 bus that runs from Dorchester to Poundbury every half an hour. There is a bus stop near the statue at Queen Mother Square, Poundbury and one near the Great Field. There is an additional service by the operator First Bus; the X51 travels from Axminster to Dorchester via Poundbury, Lyme Regis, Charmouth and Chideock.

CAR

We have free on road parking throughout Poundbury. Driving from the east from Poole, stay on the A35 as it skirts around Dorchester. When you reach the roundabout (Monkeyjump Roundabout) with the A37, take the third exit to Poundbury. From the west and Bridport, follow the A35 until you reach the roundabout (Monkeyjump Roundabout) with the A37 and take the second exit to Poundbury.

Coming from the north and Yeovil, follow the A37 south until you reach the roundabout (Monkeyjump Roundabout) with the A35. From here take the first exit to Poundbury.

EV fast charging points are available in the Buttermarket and will soon be installed North of Queen Mother Square.
