Their Majesties visit Poundbury

The King and Queen visited Poundbury on Tuesday 27 June 2023.  To background music from the Durnovaria Silver Band, bronze reliefs of Their Majesties were unveiled inside the arch of the Royal Pavilion Tower to mark the completion of Queen Mother Square. Their Majesties then officially opened the Duke of Edinburgh Garden and were greeted by the choir of Damers School.

A private tour of the latest parts of the development followed, including a walk through the Great Field, with the wild flower meadows and trees looking at their best. Finally, The King unveiled a memorial stone dedicated to Sir Jimmy James at Ladock Green, meeting members of his family and representatives of the RNLI, who had donated the trees from their Chelsea Flower Show garden.
