Poundbury has been named one of the best places to live in the UK

Poundbury has been named one of the best places to live in the UK, according to an annual guide published by The Sunday Times.

The Best Places to Live Guide 2023 features the UK’s top 72 locations by region, with Poundbury among just eight locations highlighted in the South West.

The report highlights Poundbury’s diverse architecture, green spaces, wide range of facilities and strength of community, including various events and activities.

And it praises Poundbury for being forward-thinking, with 35% affordable housing mixed with open market homes as part of walkable neighbourhoods that are pedestrian friendly.

Jason Bowerman, Estate Development Manager for the Duchy of Cornwall, which has developed Poundbury over the last 30 years, said: “Being recognised as one of the best places to live by the Sunday Times is a testament to the vision and dedication of Poundbury’s creators.

“As a flagship project of the Duchy of Cornwall, Poundbury demonstrates that traditional design and modern sustainability can coexist harmoniously, creating a thriving community that both evolves and stands the test of time.”
