Painting Poundbury en plein air
On Saturday 27th May, ‘Art in the Park – The Great Poundbury Paint Out’, was held on the Great Field, organised by the Art in Poundbury Club. Artists of all abilities, aged 19 to 99, were welcomed to enter the outdoor competition with prizes awarded in two categories – Established Artist and Enthusiast, as well an overall prize.
Finn Campbell-Notman (Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the year 2023), Binny Mathews (Portrait Artist of the Year 2022 runner up), and owner of Gallery On The Square in Poundbury, David Murdock, judged the event.
The overall winner was James Meiklejohn who received a prize of £250. The Enthusiasts’ winner was Natasha Hayball and Dennis Hill won in the Established Artist category.
Conditions on the day were calm, bright and sunny, resulting in a wonderful attendance of over 90 artists, many spectators throughout the day and a spectacular display of talent.
Some of the completed artworks can be viewed on the Art in Poundbury’s website.
