Defibrillators at Poundbury

The Poundbury Community Trust (PCT) has been working with the South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) to provide four externally mounted defibrillators in Poundbury. The Poundbury Community Trust is delighted to announce that the first two, provided by SWASFT and funded by PCT, have been installed at;

  • Pavilion in the Park (PiPs) in the Great Field.
  • The Poet Laureate Pub in Pummery Square.

Defibrillators are easy to use and are accessible to the public in case of an emergency. The ambulance service will be able to confirm their location when calling 999. Defibrillators complement cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by significantly increasing the life chances of patients, so this recent development is timely given the Mayor of Dorchester’s appeal for CPR training this year.

The defibrillators are in addition to others already in place (e.g. to the rear of The Duchess of Cornwall Inn at Queen Mother Square, and outside the Dorchester Community Church in Liscombe Street) and inside locations, such as The Brownsword Hall, Pummery Square. Two further locations are planned for the Buttermarket and Crown Square.

With many thanks to the PCT and others involved in the project.
