Art in Poundbury 2025 review

The focus for Art in Poundbury in 2025 was nurturing creativity and wellbeing in the local community through art. It was a particularly successful year for inclusion, impact and growth. The organisation strengthened community links through volunteering, projects with young people, older living communities and health settings, it enriched public spaces with art and enabled artists to develop skills, exhibit and sell their work.

Art in Poundbury promoted social connection and positive mental health through a number of projects. The inclusive After School Art Club brought young people and their parents and carers together to play and explore creativity. Art sessions were held in schools, the local hospice, nursing homes and businesses which collectively created a community art installation showcased at the Winter Exhibition. Two mass participation, en plein air events in local green spaces encouraged residents to create, connect and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of art and nature.

There were significant developments in work to enrich and enhance wellbeing in public spaces through art. Art in Poundbury CIC held its first exhibition at Dorset County Hospital: “Bringing the Outside In” has transformed clinical areas for patients, staff and visitors with artwork. The team continues to curate and manage art displays at Crossroads café and the Pavilion in the Park Café, both located in Poundbury, and refreshed the artwork in local GP surgeries to create calmer and more welcoming environments. Over £4,000 was raised in 2025/26 for the local Arts in Hospital charity who enrich hospital spaces through art and creativity.

The highlight of the Art in Poundbury year was the Winter Exhibition at Jubilee Hall: a significant and inclusive event that celebrated creativity and community connection. It brought together professional and amateur artists, art lovers and volunteers, alongside local businesses and community groups. Local children including members of the After School Art Club came to view their artwork displayed alongside the work of established artists.

Through 2025 Art in Poundbury saw a growing public interest in the practice and appreciation of art. Nurturing this interest to deepen community connection and wellbeing remains central to plans for 2026.

With huge congratulations to Judy Tate and her team for such a fantastic 2025, we are very much looking forward to Art in Poundbury’s future plans.
